Re: PIH

Well, not very cool. I'm supposed to be managing files and not playing with neat new features. What are you doing to me?

(And yes, wow, this really is a neat feature! I can finally get rid of this other ancient tool I have been using for the longest time.)

Re: 64-bit XYplorer

Works so well I kind of stopped updating it often as the version I had never had any big issues, lol. Though it's probably time I update it to the latest version now and see what new features it has since then.

Re: XYPlorer vs Directory Opus

I also gave up on xplorer2. Paid full price for it and never felt satisfied. The developer is annoying too, to be honest. Opus's "Collection" are not handled as pure text like XYplorer. It uses xml instead just like every of its configuration files except for image caching for obvious reas...

Re: Portable File Icons Not Working - Win 10 x64 [Solved]

Don, I heard there is a really pretty city in a town called Winten! You should upgr- uhh, I meant you should move there! I can then show you all the wonderful bugs and critters they have there. Remember to bring your xyplorer as you will totally enjoy using it to navigate the town! (But yeah, just a...

Re: Portable File Icons Not Working - Win 10 x64 [Solved]

I know, right? It's such a pretty city. Full of green and orange fur! I totally want to give your city a nice big old hug! (But shouldn't XYplorer be able to override Windows? It's easier for me to use HoneyView as an example when I was playing around with it today butI could actually repeat it with...

Re: Portable File Icons Not Working - Win 10 x64 [Solved]

Ah ha! Found how to replicate it. Stupid Windows... Go to http://www.bandisoft.com/honeyview/ and download the installer for HoneyView. Install HoneyView. No go to Windows Settings > Apps > Apps default > Change Default Photo viewer to HoneyView. Portable File Icons should still be working in XYplor...

I didn't forget you, but based on that fact that you posted the same thing in two threads, I opted for a thorough questioning...
Well... that's a very fair point...

Re: Portable File Icons Not Working - Win 10 x64 [Solved]

But this doesn't explain why XY's portable file icon feature doesn't work as it should. The purpose is to override what Windows is enforcing on the user and it fails here Yeah, exactly. So the fact that this is an issue on Windows 10 is just... odd. I'm going to play around with stuff tomorrow and ...

Re: Portable File Icons Not Working - Win 10 x64 [Solved]

That does bring one concern though. Basically in the end, Portable File Icons is not truly portable as it still depends on the whims of Windows. Especially in the case of Windows 10 as it was never an issue on Windows 7. At least from what I can tell.

Re: Portable File Icons Not Working - Win 10 x64

Maybe a shell extension or one of your media players where the assignment for all registered extensions went wrong and now only a default icon is displayed. I'd check GOM first... I'm not using GOM. Those were simply extracted icons from the GOM executable. However you gave me an idea... EDIT: I we...

Re: Portable File Icons Not Working - Win 10 x64

Post a screenshot of how Windows Explorer displays the icons in your <xyicons> folder please Oh, now this is an interesting question. This is how the icons look whether it's in Details or List. 2017-09-22 04_04_00-.png This is in Tiles mode. 2017-09-22 04_04_30-GOM.png This does explain my suspicio...

Re: Portable File Icons Not Working - Win 10 x64

C'mon Don. I'm not a new user. Unless you already forgotten me. Anyways, since I made this screenshot before I read your reply, I'm going to stick with showing an example of using the AVI.ICO file. Here is a screenshot of a fresh install XYplorer. Bottom pane shows the direct path to the icon. Previ...
