Re: Shell integration bug with Photoshop files
Thanks for the teaser ;) I followed your link, and eventually got to the English version of the information about group policy editor. That seems to have fixed the problem for me, at least for now. Is there some way to make this solution easier to find? Or is it listed in some section other than bug...

Shell integration bug with Photoshop files
Windows 10, all updates applied. Photoshop psd files are associated with Adobe Photoshop CC 2022. From Windows 10 Explorer, I click on a Photoshop file, extension .psd, and Photoshop immediately opens the file, no questions asked. With XYPlorer, I get the dialog about which file to use to open psd f...

More problems with thumbnails!
The Nov 23 version seems to have completely broken thumbnails. At first I could see the 100x100 and 300x300, but no 200x200. After a Windows 10 reboot, I can't see any of them. I've downgraded to the September 4 version (22.20.02), and thumbnails are working. Unfortnately, in the course of troublesh...

Re: Version 22.30 install error
I have things under control now. I did a couple of things: 1. I uninstalled, then reinstalled the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack (which I need to see thumbnails for PSD files) with the latest version. I think that was a big part of the problem. Now I have thumbnails for every one of my more than 5,000...

Re: Version 22.30 install error
First, let me say that I've finally got the "uninstalled" version going. I was running xyplorer but closed it before I came back to the forum. It was NOT running when I executed the command. The result was Screen shot.jpg That's the same file that couldn't be closed when I updated from wit...

Re: Version 22.30 install error
I can't seem to install the new version, or the previous version. So I've downloaded the 'no-install' version and extracted the files to a folder on my hard drive. I click on xyplorer.exe to run it. Splash screen comes up, saying this is the trial version, with options to continue trial, buy, or qui...

Re: Version 22.30 install error
And now I've had HUGE problems with the new version. Takes 30 seconds to open, minutes and minutes to update thumbnail views Task manager shows 4 instances of XYplorer running and I can't kill the last one I uninstalled with RevoUninstaller, which says there's a file and a folder which will be delet...

Version 22.30 install error
Updating to v 22.30 from Help menu. I get error that file xy64ctxmenu.exe can't be accessed for writing (I think that's the correct name). After the 1st error, I turned off my AV software (Trend Micro) and tried again. Same problem. Then I went to web site, downloaded the trial version (full, zip fi...

Re: Thumbnails not updated after file is renamed
As for klownboy's comment re the safer way, I agree that leaving extension alone is better, given the significance the extension has for the operating system. I would have made 'basename only' the default, rather than the exception that requires a change in the Config file. But obviously, at this ti...

Re: Thumbnails not updated after file is renamed
If the current behavior has never been questioned before, I'd say it's rare. Whether to add a specific option to include or exclude extension when swapping (as you have for renaming), I'd say depends on how difficult that is. I AM using a script for swapping now. But, again, my problem is with the t...

Re: Thumbnails not updated after file is renamed
To clarify, I guess Admin never expected that a user would try to swap names of two files with different extensions. I wrote a program that was used by more than 100 blood testing laboratories around the world. I had lots of experience with users doing the unexpected. And it seems I do the same thin...

Re: Thumbnails not updated after file is renamed
I guess, both a wish and a bug. I perceive it as a bug, given all the warnings you receive from Windows, like "Are you sure you want to change the extension? Certain functions may not work if you do that.", etc. The base name, set by the user, doesn't 'mean' anything to the operating syste...

Re: Thumbnails not updated after file is renamed
Yes, that's the script I've been using. I hadn't realized it's been 8 years. How time flies! And I've been using XYP for even longer. Admin commented that "the need to just change the bases never appeared to me in real life". He must be referring to just the words "need" and &quo...

Re: Thumbnails not updated after file is renamed
I've tried the 'all at once' option, but with 400-500 files in the folder, it was too slow. I just thought of another possible cause: when I swap file names, I usually use a custom script (that was written for me by one of the other users here). Here's an example of the problem solved by the script....
