Unrealistic wish: replace windows' common dialogs
I have gotten to like XY enough to be frustrated when I go to open a file in another program, and I have to use explorer to locate the file I wish to open. The same goes for saving. All these dialogs are located in comdlg32.dll, and I imagine they just use an explorer sub-window to show the files. W...

I was just thinking about this today. Another thing you'll want to add support for while you're at it is CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE... this is for ranged selection. Play around with these in ye olde archaic explorer to see how they work. It's nice when I'm eating chips with one hand so I don't have to reach f...

SVN icon overlay alternative
Instead of using the icon overlays, you could get the file status information from subversion and create a new details column that says the status. Then, anyone could setup visual filters on that column to highlight files based on status. Below is the regular windows property dialog that comes up wh...

For the above VB example, have you tried playing with these values?
perhaps adding some values?
Code: Select all
Public Enum TVItemOverlayIndices
tvoNoOverlay = 0
tvoShareOverlay = 1
tvoShortcutOverlay = 2
End Enum

It sounds to me like some of you need to be introduced to a gestures program... I use StrokeIt. It's highly configurable, so you can make a gesture where you draw a line going up, and you go up a folder. Draw a line to the left, and you go back. I just now configured these things for Tracker... incl...

Here's what I've found so far. These may or may not be useful. http://www.codeproject.com/shell/overlayicon.asp Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers The TortoiseSVN icons are located at that registry key. Browse to it and check t...

Just so I understand your issue exactly... You can display the overlays just fine, but you're having trouble finding out from Tortoise SVN/CVS which icon needs to be displayed. I can start digging around and see what I can find. I also am a coder, although I'm terrible when it comes to windows COM s...

I just wanted to add this to my wanted list. Another use for icon overlays is for shortcuts. Whenever you create a windows shortcut, it uses an overlay to show that it is a shortcut. I know you've got this in the works for V4 at least. The addition of overlay support (so Tortoise SVN works completel...
