Re: Like a new feature? Say thanks here

I just wanted to chime in and let everyone know that version 9.90 has totally transformed my workflow and efficiency. I regularly work with large libraries of sound files with varying contents. Finding and naming items is one of my most time-consuming tasks and v9.90 with the new tags, new rename sc...

Re: New backup name collision functionality for inline renames

Now that I've had time to use it more in real life situations it just feels even more awesome. I'm so glad I bought the lifetime pro license, this feels like such a great product with the frequent updates and features.

Re: New backup name collision functionality for normal renames

On second thoughts I don't think a complication of the "Cannot" interface would be an improvement. At least for me I cannot imagine a situation where I would say Yes to an automatic alternative name (let alone overwrite the existing file). But I'm open to other opinions. This is something...

Re: New backup name collision functionality for inline renames

You can get the kind of window I was talking about in windows 7 by moving a file from another folder to somewhere where a file of the same name exists. It gives you three simple choices with the last of them being keep both + suffix. I'm also not voting for a huge rename feature that makes inline re...

Re: New backup name collision functionality for inline renames

Indeed it does, there was a windows update/hotfix that for some reason changed the behaviour. There used to be a big choice window with overwrite/keep newer/keep larger/add suffix. I'll try to get a screenshot somehow from somewhere. I guess calling it a menu is wrong, it was just a big window with ...

Re: New backup name collision functionality for normal renames

For me the most important option is to keep both files with a simple number suffix (as opposed to dates). I agree that the challenge here is to keep it both simple but leave the option for advanced users to get exactly what they want. In that regard I like the idea of being able to call a script, al...

Re: New backup name collision functionality for normal renames

Most obvious choices for me would be 1) Overwrite 2) Keep newer (date) 3) Keep larger (filesize) 4) Keep both (by adding number suffix - "textfile.doc" becomes "textfile (1).doc" --- "textfile (1).doc" becomes "textfile (2).doc" etc.) Advanced options: 5) Keep...

Re: New backup name collision functionality for normal renames

I guess by normal renames I mean manual renames. The kind of renames that gives the window "An item with the same name already exists" with no option to click for some sort of automatic response like overwrite, add suffix, keep newer etc.

Re: REX2 file format support

Sadly, no. It was a long shot anyway. Maybe I'll get windows to do it somehow, although google doesn't seem to think it's possible.

Re: REX2 file format support

No. Most audio software also need this .DLL file to enable playback, which is put into windows/system32 directory.

REX2 file format support

A lot of audio professionals have started to use XYplorer because of its superb preview and search functionalities, me included. With huge libraries of sound files XYplorer is a really well-working, low cost alternative to other audio database softwares that are ten times more expensive. The only ma...

New backup name collision functionality for inline renames

I wish that XYplorer had more advanced name collision functionality for normal renames. Even windows explorer gives me a choice menu on a name collision (Overwrite, skip or keep both files with number suffix). I do a lot of renaming and the choice to automatically add a suffix on name collisions to ...

Re: Freeze and max CPU % when clicking box in "Preview Formats"

Case solved.

I made the other tweaked install DVD with RT 7 lite almost exactly like before but left the "Default Computer Program Access" accessory in place. Everything works normally now, no freeze.
