Re: Auto Size Name Column When Window Shrinks Smaller

Fresh install 21.10.0021. Check Flexible name column width. Reduce name column width to 3 or 4 characters (lower pane) in order to display, if necessary, more columns. Move navigation panel/list splitter to the right - name column (and all columns) stay the same. Move navigation panel/list splitter ...

Re: Auto Size Name Column When Window Shrinks Smaller

Off the top of my head: link name column width to pane width. re-size name column width to pane width. sync name column width to pane width. adjust name column width to pane width. You must make it clear that the width of the name column is related to the pane width. Off to a video conference now - ...

Re: Auto Size Name Column When Window Shrinks Smaller

No mention of the fact that window width, or navigation panel width, controls the name column width. Flexible means capable of being changed, un-checking that option means the name column is fixed in width. That is not true since it can still be changed by dragging the column header. Catchy captions...

XY has the Catalog. It's vertical as well and you can narrow it down to a mere bar. :)
But can the catalogue be positioned between two vertically split panes (no tree)? That is the ideal position (and where I have it) for a vertical toolbar.

Re: Windows Explorer Libraries request [2020]

Strange answer indeed!

XY is bloated with "smartness", ah, but that's Don's smartness, and not Microsoft, so it's OK. He even uses the word smart(ness) in the help file descriptions. Illogical!

Libraries are very useful, and a part of the Windows system.

Re: Real "Swap Panes"

Should the panes also swap their dimensions? Interesting point. I usually have both panes the same size, 50-50 split, so it wouldn't make any difference. I think I'd expect the pane size to go with the swap, i.e. a 40-60 split would become a 60-40 split. This would seem logical if one pane has, for...

Re: Real "Swap Panes"

As it stands it should be called "Swap active tabs", since that is what it does.

Don, how about changing the name, and adding a real swap panes?

Re: Real "Swap Panes"

Essential for tidy working to keep source, as left, and right as destination. A feature I use regularly in my file managers (XY, as Don knows, won't run on my system anymore).

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XY Switches Programming Language +++

So what do you call XYcopy as a way of getting round the fact that VB has no multi-threading? Or, your context menu solution for 64-bit? I call that a joke!

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XY Switches Programming Language +++

Very sad that you have given up, I thought you had more stamina than that. I was becoming suspicious that you were loosing interest in changing the language XY is written in, because of the number of updates that you were making. It did not make sense to me to keep updating, if you intended to chang...

Ah! John Conway, and number theory. That brings back memories of happy days at University. I loved pure mathematics, and still do. There is something fascinating about numbers, particularly prime numbers.

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XY Switches Programming Language +++

Don, I think you'll find it not as daunting as you imagine. I've had to learn different programming languages. I expect, like me, it will appear a mammoth task at first. Then it will all start to fall into place and you'll wonder what the problems were. Good luck, I'm delighted that you've decided t...

Certainly not where I would have expected to hear a Dowland lute recital. Mustapha Tettey Addy and The Obonu Drummers perhaps.
