Re: Find Files, Contents, Grep feature

Don, Thanks for the example and clarification, I understand now. Most of my Regexp searches are in sourcecode files and are quite localised to smaller parts (eg. a single line) of the file so the 1024 wildcard limit should not be noticed. It's good to have this discussion here so you can refer other...

Re: Find Files, Contents, Grep feature

Don, I've just downloaded 10.5 and tried the some basic regexp contents searches and it is looking very good. Thanks for such a very quick response. I think I may have misunderstood the 1024 character limit. I thought it was regarding size of the file to be searched. However one of the other comment...

Re: Find Files, Contents, Grep feature

Don, Pleased to be able to give you a friendly kick  Not sure if you sacrifice small animals at the altar of "Agile", but the agile approach would be to implement the feature as is (with the 1024 limit) just to see how popular the Regex contents search actually is. Then, if enough people actua...

Find Files, Contents, Grep feature

I would just like to put in a vote for regular expression support in the "Find Files", Contents text box, effectively making this a Grep tool. I often use XYPlorer to seach the contents of source code files and about 50 percent of the time the wildcard content matching is fine. Having regexp would r...

Re: Script iteration over a file/folder list

Thanks to the suggestions from Stefan, Donald and Pagat I've come up with the following script. I'm sure there are still bugs but it works quite well for me. It uses the report command instead of manually incrementing the current selection. This improves the performance a bit over large lists (Thank...

Re: Script iteration over a file/folder list

Thanks for the quick responses, this really is a very helpful forum.

<curitem> combined with multiple selection capability (in the next version) should give me plenty to play with.

Thanks again.

Script iteration over a file/folder list

Would it be possible to add XYPlorerer script functions that allow us to iterate over the items in the current list? A script version of the Win32 FindFirstFile / FindNextFile would be great. These functions could take a parameter indicating 'all files', 'selected files', 'unselected files' and woul...

Re: Like a new feature? Say thanks here

Donald, Many thanks for the moving the XYPlorer help to CHM format. I'm still getting up to speed (having recently purchased XYPlorer) and find CHM much more user friendly when it comes to finding specific pieces of information. I know it's a simple thing, but being able to use CTRL F to jump to spe...
