A Frequently Asked Question

How do I install portable XYplorer on a USB stick?

XYplorer is fully portable. Here is the recommended setup for a USB stick. You will have your license data and full configuration right with you on the stick, and the host system won't ask you any questions or force you to install anything.

Assuming you have already installed XYplorer on your hard disk, and your stick is assigned to drive "G:":

STEP 1: Create a folder "G:\XYplorer" on the stick and copy all files from your XYplorer application folder to this folder.
STEP 2: Delete the file Startup.ini in "G:\XYplorer". This will default the application data folder of the USB installation to G:\XYplorer\Data\.
STEP 3: Create a folder "G:\XYplorer\Data" on the stick and copy all files from your XYplorer application data folder to this folder.
You can omit this step and XYplorer will create the folder for you; in that case you have to re-enter your registration data manually.

Note that you can even get a working "installation" by simply copying the program file XYplorer.exe alone to any folder on a stick! You will have to enter your license data, and you won't have background file operations, 64-bit context menu, or Help by pressing F1, but everything else will just work.
