XYplorer feels slower than advertised. How can I make it faster?
One possible reason for this is an active virus scanner running in the background. This can significantly slow down file processes, causing XYplorer to become unresponsive and slow to start.
Especially Windows Defender (aka Microsoft Defender Antivirus) can have a dramatic negative effect on speed.
Solution
Windows 11: Go to Windows Security / Virus & Threat Protection / Virus & Threat Protection Settings / Exclusions and exclude XYplorer.exe and XYcopy.exe from the scanned files and scanned processes using the Add an exclusion button.
