Branch view with "Files only"
Branch view with "Files only"
On my computer, if the default branch view type is "files only", clicking on Branch View only shows files only in the current folder without the content of subfolders. Does somebody confirm it? It would be a serious bug.
Re: Branch view with "Files only"
Please switch "Let folder pass..." option off. And then try again.admin wrote:No. Cannot confirm.

No, this must be a misunderstanding.

No it is not. Please switch off "Let folders pass all filters" first. Then choose a folder with subfolders. Click on branch view. Then click on visual filter choosing an extension from a subfolder. Now you can see filtered files only from the current folder, but not from subfolders.

Re: Branch view with "Files only"
Huh? Now you come with a visual filter? I suggest we let pass the night and look at it again tomorrow, when the bug report has settled down to some final version...

You don't understand. These are caused by same origin. I thought the second face of the problem is easier to follow. If it confuses you, please simply ignore the first one and concentrate the latter. The bug exists.

Read Help about "Let folders pass all filters" ...

Re: Branch view with "Files only"
I did. Not once. There isn't any explanation about unticked(!) state. It says if the option is on and the view is "Folders and files", folders always appear, even if it would be filtered out. The help doesn't say, if it is unticked, not only the unmatched folder names are filtered out, but the content of that unmatched folder as well... What is the sense of this way of working?admin wrote:Read Help about "Let folders pass all filters" ...
Here an example again. My settings with the VLC folder: Using a visual filter "a*" starting with a, the screenshot is below. You can see folders not started by "a" becuase of the "Let folders pass..." option. Now I switch off the "Let folders pass..." option. With the same visual filter I can see this. Where is my subfolders and files on lower level, starting with "a"??? Sorry for taking your time if it is expected working. It seems a bug to me. Maybe you filter by path column, not name.

Re: Branch view with "Files only"
OK, got it. It's because of this new behavior:
So what to do now? I think I know what do: I will apply the above ONLY to folders hidden because user opted to hide SYSTEM or HIDDEN folders.
Code: Select all
v10.80.0309 - 2012-02-19 15:27
* Branch View: From now on, when folders are not listed themselves
in the Branch View (e.g. because they are hidden for having the
SYSTEM attribute) then also their contents are not listed.
Reason: There should never be a case where the contents are shown
but not the hidden/system folder, because that is when the list
becomes inaccurate and misleading (because of files being indented
under folders in which they don't belong).
Note that the Find Files logic is different: If a folder is
hidden, its contents might still be listed in the Search Results
if they match the search filters.

Does the described behaviour cause this as well?
The same VLC folder in branch view, files only. There arent any file from subfolders

Re: Branch view with "Files only"
I was playing with 0314. Now I feel the Branch View, Visual filter and "Let folders pass..." option work as it is expected, in a logical way. Thanks, Don. By the way, sorry for my difficult explanation.
