how to calculate amount of media for backups

Post by Wanda »

other day I saw a discussion about calculating dates.
is there anyone helpful willing to write me a script to show me how many disks i'd need to do a backup so i can decide which ones to buy?
i have dvd 4.5 and dual layer, 702 MB cds, 100 MB iomega drives and 1.5 MB just to joke on my dad.
displaying exceeding amount of MB in each media would be a plus either.
Ex:
9 GB fills 1 dual layer DVD with excess of "X" MB
2x 4.5 DVD with excess of "X" MB, if any
10+ 702 MB with excess of "X" MB, if any
and so on.

i'd like to thank for the other script despite my brother had to burn his head to make it work for me LOL
