5 months up, wow! :D I conclude that within that 5 months you did not rename an icon that was being previewed. :wink:

No. I do not use many of the most advanced features, but I use extensively the tab-related, history etc. functions.

Screenshot (almost 6 months already) :) (I plan to restart later this month to upgrade a failing DVD device). This is my main worling computer :) .

Code: Select all

v9.40.0108 - 2010-09-01 20:24
    + Menu Edit | Select: Added command "Select Items..." by which you
      can select items by a list of item names (one per line).
    * List white space context menu: Now the Select commands are stuffed
      into a submenu.

v9.40.0109 - 2010-09-02 15:33
    + Menu Edit | Select | Selection Filter...: Now you can restrict the
      selections to files or folders. This is achieved by attaching one
      of the following prefixes to the pattern:
        *:  => select files only
        \:  => select folders only
    * Menu Edit | Select | Select Items...: Now you can pass paths and
      even encoded URLs with the item names. The paths will be ignored
      and the encodings resolved.

v9.40.0110 - 2010-09-03 15:27
    + Menu Edit | Select | Select Items...: Added a checkbox "Ignore
      extensions". If checked then matching is done only against the
      base of the given item names.
      The state of the checkbox is remembered within the session.

v9.40.0112 - 2010-09-04 20:31
    + Menu Edit | Select | Selection Filter...: Now you can add to or
      remove from the current selections.
      - hold SHIFT while clicking OK in the Selection Filter dialog
        = Add matches to the current selections
      - hold CTRL while clicking OK in the Selection Filter dialog
        = Remove matches from the current selections
    * Menu Edit | Select | Select Items...: Now URL queries are allowed
      and ignored in the listed items.

http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?p=51259#p51259 / Self:
QuickHint: If I enter "*:" under Selection Filter (CTRL+M) it will select all files. "\:", all folders.
All of this works so awesomely perfect that I'm... how can I say? Fantabulasticly stupefacted! The add/remove stuff to selection is breath-taking, kind of Sticky Selector accelerator/replacement... with no drawbacks at all!
Thanks much *again*, mr. Donald Lessau! Hat off!

Just wanted to chime in and say the "Edit Names" feature in 9.60 is saving me an incredible amount of time at work.

I've been looking for something that would let me do that forever... :) I often have to deal with 2000+ files, and while mass renamers work well, sometimes I have to export the file list into Excel and do more complex operations that cannot be batched through mass renamers, but going back into my files has always been a problem...

No more! I'm in love with you guys. I'd marry XYplorer if I could. :)

Not strictly the spirit of the OT but I see this one can fit here...
I'd like to say a special, personal and public "thank you!" to Muroph, Stefan, Serendipity and TheQwerty who help me now and then with scripts or script building related issues, not to mention the generic XYploration which constantly brings me new surprises to play with.

The Scripts Library is in my opinion a fabulous success - it will reach +16.000 page views in 70 days, being the most viewed topic of the forum aside of Don's Beta Section. All of this without any external publicity, as far as I can track, so we can know for sure that our community is really making benefit out of it each and every day, I'd dare to say.

This confirms my vision that XYscripting is one of the most invaluable resources in all XYworld, and all script writers deserves a credit for showing its full potential since its creation back in january, 2008 (v6.80.0005).

So far I've gathered ~500 unique/variations of scripts and it's a wonderful show off of the whole idea, ranging from weird and improbable tasks for a file manager to daily tasks one would have to spend hours on tedious tasks otherwise, and none of this would be possible without the commitment of both XY developer and people like the guys I've mentioned and others which equally deserve credit - and that's why I've built the Library as it currently is: each poster is given its due credit having the original posts visited, linked from there.

When I stepped into this forum the first thing I noticed was the "Forum for XYplorer Users and Developers" statement, that left me wondering but now I know the reason for it - XY development is a flexyble, organic thing that pulses and brings a fresh air each and every single day to software development as a whole and to this community in particular.

So again - thank you all! Computing life's never been easier!

Thanks for the command catalogload. :D i can get rid of my catalog switcher script.
I am now quickly switching between my other catalogs CatScripts, CatFavs, CatWork, CatApps etc using:

Code: Select all

catalogload inputselect ("Select a catalog", listfolder (<xypath>, "Cat*.dat",1,<crlf>),<crlf>,1),s;

Thanks! Yes, I like it, too. :D

And BTW, now you can share Catalogs with interesting scripts, or collections of locations, or app launcher suites, or cool websites... :wink:
