Looking around, I get the impression that Don and other such people like it when we put unrelated comments/requests in separate threads, so I'm doing that :p.
As seen in the discussion here, I posit that most interfaces with tabs have the option to show the tab bar automatically as soon as you open a second tab, and hide it (reclaiming the space for other things) as soon as the number of open tabs in the window goes back down to 1, and that xyplorer would benefit aesthetically from having that option as well. Thanks!
(And TheQwerty agrees with me, so clearly that makes it important. :p)

Thanks! It makes it much easier to locate and keep track of when isolated.neminem wrote:Looking around, I get the impression that Don and other such people like it when we put unrelated comments/requests in separate threads, so I'm doing that :p.
Based on history here, there have been many more requests for a second (or even a third) line of tabs than no tabs and that hasn't happened yet so I'd not count on this occuring any time soon...not saying your request isn't considered by Don but he's driven by what benefits the most ppl for a given effort as anyone would do...and as I stated over there, I highly suspect you're in the extreme minority here with only single tab usage...I believe most users have 10-20+ tabs active.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Re: Auto show/hide the tab bar
Heh. That is unfortunate, though... I would point out that adding additional tabs would most likely require rejiggering the whole layout (and, working on a dialog with complex layout issues right now at work, I know that dynamic layouts can be a huge pain). While, on the other hand, there's already an option to show or hide the tab bar, so this would hopefully just be a matter of a couple lines to toggle that existing option when a tab is opened or closed? (I can hope.)j_c_hallgren wrote:Based on history here, there have been many more requests for a second (or even a third) line of tabs than no tabs and that hasn't happened yet so I'd not count on this occuring any time soon...

Weird. Dunno why you wouldn't be, but it's entirely your software, so do what you like :p. Anyway, for anyone else like me who might happen to stumble on this thread in the future and be sad, I worked around it, or close enough, via scripting.
