New destination for"Move/Copy/Backup to"
There is the "move/copy/backup to" option in the right-click menu of a file and I can see "Favorite folders" and "Tabs" as a destination of the operation. May I ask for another option "Hotlist" besides these? Sometimes I check the contents of a folder first, then I navigate to another folder with the files to be copied there. It would make the job easier, without opening new tab or marking folder as favorite.
In my opinion these (Favorite folder/Tabs/Hotlist groups) make work so simple, that you should add them to the individual copy and move dialogs too. For example you could change the normal operation history with a tab control, named by these group names, plus a history tab.

Re: New destination for"Move/Copy/Backup to"
This has been wished quite a few times over many years, but my answer is always this same. I want to keep the "Move/Copy/Backup to" dialog simple.
Same with the menus. It's already so cluttered that I'm tempted to remove this stuff rather than add new things.

OK, understand, it is up to you. But honestly, I don't understand, why this "Hotlist" option is missing. "Tabs" menu isn't so necessary, because I can use drag'n'drop to tabs directly as well. But I can't drop files to the hotlist or to the favorite folders. Logically the "Favorite folders" and "Hotlist" would be more reasonable than "Favorite Folders" and "Tabs". Maybe changing the "Tabs" to "Hotlist" in the menu would be logical and the size of menu would stay the same.

Same here! Never quite understood why Tabs were needed there since it's highly likely that the desired one is presently visible so it's thus redundant...so yes, Hotlist as substitute certainly makes sense to me even though I don't use this all that often.admin wrote:Yes, I agree.LittleBiG wrote:OK, understand, it is up to you. I actually find the current menu arrangement for move-copy-backup a bit cluttered.admin wrote:This has been wished quite a few times over many years, but my answer is always this same. I want to keep the "Move/Copy/Backup to" dialog simple.

Move/Copy/Backup to
then
Move to or Copy to or Backup to
then
Favorite Folders or Tabs or Move/Copy/Backup to.. or Browse for Destination
then
Pick from list of Favorites, Tabs etc.
I would rather have one dialog pop up with all options available and switched via tabs. Either separate 1st level menu entries for Move, Copy and Backup or have one as the default in the dialog box with the ability to change the type of operation (e.g. "I think I'll do a backup rather than a copy").
Something like this:

In my opinion unhiding the 2nd pane by one click seems simplier to me.FeatureCreep wrote:I like having Tabs in the list, especially since it lists tabs in both panes. Sometimes I have the 2nd pane hidden and therefore those tabs aren't currently available as drag-and-drop targets.

Re: New destination for"Move/Copy/Backup to"
Don, did you make up your mind about putting Hotlist into the menu? I hope so, because it would have been useful five minutes ago again ...
By the way, "Copy/Move/Backup to..." dialog is far from being cluttered. 2 or 3 tabs (e.g. history as now, favorites, hotlist) wouldn't do anything wrong about complexity. Plus it could provide the same funcionality as "Copy/Move/Backup to..:" right click menu with at least the same speed or faster.

It would be enough if you gave us access to the Recent lists, I could do it myself as a button. I have never understood, why only the Highlighted folders can be read by script.
