Quick Name Search follows the Find Files setting

Post by LittleBiG »

The obvious idea is to offer an ultra-smooth access to the most common find task: the search by filename. No more need to open the Info Panel, select the mighty Find Files tab, reset any previous filters, enter a pattern, and press Find Now. Instead you completely bypass the Find Files tab leaving its current settings unused and unchanged.

Notes:

· Include subfolders (recursive search): Quick Name Searches follow the "Include subfolders" setting for the general File Find found on the Find Files tab. You can force a recursive search by appending the switch "/r", or a non-recursive search by appending the switch "/n".
The bold parts are contradictions. First part tells about full independence, the second tells that there is one exception.

It is a very annoying way of working at the same time. I have search templates with setting the Include Subfolders OFF, so when I would like to start a Quick Name Search, I have to check if I didn't run a this kind of search last time. Or I always have to add /r manually to be sure. (which I sometimes forget, so I have to edit my search). I think both way is against the label "Quick". :-(
The previous way (QNS is always recursive) was better. Because if I would like to search by filname in a non-recursive way, using a visual filter is more natural.
