For users not using breadcrumbs: Restore old tab design
For users not using breadcrumbs: Restore old tab design
Hi,
I have disabled the breadcrumbs as I do not intend to use them.
Unfortunately, now the tabs look worse than they did before the introduction of the breadcrumb bar.
It would be nice if you could restore the old, very clean design for those users not using the BCB. Thanks!

I don't see the difference.
I'm sorry.

RH, on what Windows are you and what theme are you using? Any tab options used that are worth mentioning? Could you perhaps post an image?

Thank you. I believe you are addressing this change (but am not 100% sure):

Maybe Don can decide to draw that additional horizontal space in case of: (classic theme on) AND (no BC shown).
Or simply a small tweak, so anyone can decide to draw it or not to draw it.

Must be more than that. Note how the white line does not cross the bottom of the inactive tabs anymore.

Yes, you're right rhoelzl. Now it appears only the bolding of the text and shading/color distinguish the active tab. Whereas before the white line bar also helped to make the active tab standout giving the appearance of the tab popping out.
Re: For users not using breadcrumbs: Restore old tab design
I am sure that those not using BC are happier now, with 0006. However, although it is a matter of pixels and not of a paramount importance, why not go for perfectionism... As I see it, the current tab background color should find its way into this line. Here the illustration of the classic theme for the case when the BC and the current tab background are of the same color (the issue being inside the blue ellipse):This would partly be in a spirit of an unfulfilled wish of J-C, although not using the special orange line above, as far as I can understand and remember.

Can make a mockup of what you desire? It's impossible for me to adopt the mindset of classic mode users.

Basically the bottom pixel line of your last change should - in my view - bear the active tab background color:I just hope that this would look good also to non BC users and also when the active tab background color is the standard gray color.

Re: For users not using breadcrumbs: Restore old tab design
But doesn't it look funny with the BC of the other pane (if it has a different color)?

Ehm, yes, I have to admit you are probably right here. (I do not have this situation.)
So... I'll never get a seamless tab-BC area, as it seems.

Re: For users not using breadcrumbs: Restore old tab design
The question is if this is at all possible and easily achievable. It should be hardly noticeable, but mean a lot to those (like me) that use the same color for all active tabs and the BC and hopefully not spoil anything for non BC users having the standard gray for the active tab.
