I *hate* UI sounds personally (especially when they don't feature in the score of the music I'm listening to... ), but I assume they would be optional. In terms of completion feedback, would a self-destructing pop-up in the right-bottom of the screen (just above the Background Bar) be an idea? The blue link in the screen shot could open the Background Jobs window.

I *love* the idea of self-destruction. And we could use such a thing for a number of events... the time has come.

Two additions that might be of use:
- a close button for the pop-up;
- a tweak/setting for the self-destruction time-out.

Edited to add: Also, would the pop-up being semi-transparent (showing what's underneath in the list) be something?

I like the idea of having pop ups showing finished background jobs. I am dying to get my hands on this feature.

Sounds promising. I would just ask that it get a checkbox in the Configuration to enable/disable the feature.

That's been suggested before but Don decided against it because it takes too much space away from the status bar. Several users indicated that they make (extensive) use of the possibility to customize the third section of the status bar to display more than by default.
