shell integration
I would like shell integration. But when I give it a whirl every few months, xyplorer was crash after a few uses.
I was trying my bimonthy trial. True to form, it crashed.
Now I cannot turn integration off. I unchecked it in the config file. But it is still on.
I need to turn it off, either in the xyplorer config file or in the registry.
Where would that setting be?

Re: shell integration
You need admin rights to change these settings. Run XY as Administrator.

Cannot set Default File Manager
Sorry, I just discovered that when moving the XY Data folder from a Windows 8.1 machine to a Windows 10 machine (both x64) the Default File Manager setting was not retained. Probably my problem.
When I set "XYplorer in shell context menu" on that Windows 10 computer it doesn't stick. Can we talk about that instead?
I realize this setting requires that I start XYplorer.exe as Administrator. I do that from File Explorer, but it still doesn't take.
This is v15.80.0100 of XY.

Malfunctioning shell integration settings
Running XYplorerFree 15.80.0100 on Windows 7 (x86)
In the shell integration dialog, I have set XY as the default file manager for all users of this computer -- I am all users of this computer -- no one else dares to touch it
-- and consequently I'm always logged in as its administrator.
When I restarted XY after having set it as the default file manager, the shell context menu and default file manager checkboxes had been cleared and XY seemed to think it was still not the default. It still doesn't after many sessions, yet the setting is working as expected, with all my folders opening automatically in XY when a shortcut is clicked and the XYplorerFree item appearing in bold in the system's context menu.
This is the first version in which I've seen this behavior and it doesn't present much of a problem -- who needs Win Explorer for file management, anyway -- but there's actually no way of undoing my settings now except through the registry (under HKCR\Directory and HKCR\Drive).

In the meantime, here is a way to turn it off in XYplorer: tick both checkboxes, then untick them. This will remove the XYplorer=DFM from the registry.

Re: shell integration
I use the portable (zip) v15.80.0100 of XY.
In order to retain all the settings and catalog I copied the entire XY folder from a working Windows 8.1 computer to a Windows 10 computer - both x64.
All the settings appear to work except one. While the 8.1 machine had XYplorer set as the Default File Manager, the 10 computer has those two boxes unticked. The boxes will not accept checks when running XY elevated.
What is the simplest way to fix this? Is there a registry adjustment?
(The most annoying symptom is that shortcuts to 64-bit programs look in the Program Files (x86) folder when opened with double-click or select/enter. Right-click/open works okay.)

v15.80.0112 - 2015-10-26 13:52
! Configuration | Shell Integration | Default File Manager | XYplorer in
shell context menu: The current value of this setting was not retrieved
anymore from the registry since v15.70.0001 (2015-08-31). Same for
Configuration | Shell Integration | Default File Manager | XYplorer is
default file manager. So the checkboxes were never ticked on opening the
Configuration dialog. Both fixed.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your post. Can you clarify what I'm to do?! Configuration | Shell Integration | Default File Manager | XYplorer in

After reviewing my notes, I see my procedure was different than I reported. While XY on the Windows 10 machine is v15.8, the Data folder which I copied was on a computer with v15.6 of XY.

Re: shell integration
I put in the beta (v15.80.0112). All the boxes on the Shell Integration page are now checked.
But shortcuts to 64-bit programs still look in the wrong place. See the attachment. (They open properly with right-click/open.)
Again, I had copied the Data folder from a computer with v15.6 to a computer running v15.8.
