'Up' in persisted branch view actually goes back

Postby grindax » 23 Feb 2012 15:59

I've got 'Persist across folders' enabled in Branch View. When in branch view, if I double-click a folder nested a few levels deep, then I see the branch view for that folder. If I then go 'up' I see the folder above that one in branch view. So far so good. However, if I try go 'up' again, then it goes back the the deeper nested folder I was just in previously. So it seems that instead of going up, it's going back.

Example:

I start here:
D:\Utilities\? /:flat

Then I double click in the list to go here:
D:\Utilities\VirtuaWin Portable v4.3\config\? /:flat

Then I go 'up' and end up here:
D:\Utilities\VirtuaWin Portable v4.3\? /:flat

Then if I go 'up' it actually takes me back to:
D:\Utilities\VirtuaWin Portable v4.3\config\? /:flat

Note: this only applies to the toolbar button and pressing Backspace. If I use the double-click in whitespace method to go up then everything works fine.

Testing using v10.80.0313.

Got it!

This might also fix some of the Zardozian phenomena.

To add some more information:

At the last step, if I click in whitespace to make sure nothing is selected, then the 'up' button goes up correctly. Normally, though, as I go up and down in the directory structure in the list pane, a folder automatically gets selected based on my history / recent locations.

So the bug only gets triggered by going up at the same time as leaving a folder selected.

So I've tried with the portable version of the latest beta and can't reproduce. So it must be related to the particular combination of options I've got set in my main installation. I'll do some trial-and-error to see if I can find out what's tripping it up...

After much trial-and-error, I've found out how to reproduce:
