Delete popup is hidden

Post by fogg »

Hello, I've been using XYplorer for a long time and very happy with it. I'm not happy that my first post is a bug report,
but I had to register and ask to solve a little problem I'm having.
Often when I press delete while selecting file(s), the delete confirm popup is hidden by XYplorer's own window I have to use the taskbar, or alt-tab to get the popup on top.
It is a small problem, but it is very irritating to me. :x

I have never seen this here, but it might help if you untick this:
Configuration | File Operations | Miscellaneous | File operation progress dialog modeless

Ok, I did that. I'll post update if it doesn't happen anymore. Thank you.
But that option's tooltip said it has "no effect on Vista and later" and my system is windows 8.1, so will it work here?

Yep, I saw that too just now. It is wrong, it has an effect on windows 8.1.

I've been using XYplorer a long time, too, and also have the confirmation box hidden behind XYplorer's own window.
I sort of know to look for it now, in case the file doesn't go away.
I'm using Windows 7.

(I've got a more minor bug that has crept up in the more recent versions, say around v 14. The pointer changes to a horizontal or vertical adjustment arrow for no obvious reason, at some after using it a while. I'm not sure what triggers it.)

Confirmed. It continues to work as it should, but visually appears to get stuck after dragging the splitter between dual panes. Not that I could reproduce it at will, it just so happens on its own accord, very occassionally. Mostly on machines with Win7. No big deal, just a bit disorienting. Restarting XY solves it.

Yes, I have seen that too but never managed to reproduce it at will. I you find a way let me know.

Tip: Also dragging a splitter will resolve it. No need for restart.

Good to know. I am tempted to try this "toggle"-approach in other circumstances as well. Never thought of it. The benefits of a programmer's mindset rubbing off on users. A great tip to remember. Thanks.

I'm very certain this started happening after I'd upgraded to WEight from W7. But a major version at that time may be the cause too. Also, this seems to happen mostly when opening another app from XY.

Ah that's good that it was found. I encountered it somewhat frequently even though I use Windows 7. I always thought it was just Windows being weird so I ignored it.

Hello again. THis post might be helpful to others with the same problem as mine.
I needed to be able to work in Xyplorer while the popup was on, but the suggested option blocks the main window. So I've disabled that option again. Now I've discovered a way to show the popup when its's hidden. Just press ENTER to bring it to front!
It's a nice compromise. The popups don't block xyplorer, and I can easily bring it to front in one click.

on my System it happens only at the first Delete-Attempt

Post by Resfor »

Hallo, admin, perhaps it is a Help for the Programmers to know the following:

I have the same problem like Fogg: The Message-Box is shown behind XYPlorer's Window, when i want to delete some files. BUT: This happens only at the first Delete-Attempt. At the second Attempt and at every next Attempt everything happens right.

I use XYPlorer 14.50.0200. My Operating-System is WinXP with Service-Pack 3. My native Language is Deutsch; i am in Deutschland in Europe.
