Thank you! Fascinating. Still a total mystery.

In the next beta there should be a new error message which hopefully tells me a little more... please try it again with v14.40.0311 later...

Oh, something is changing!
Tested with 14.40.0312 (sorry for the delay...). Here it is:
1) Downloading language file at startup gives error, XY doesn't crash and language is applied.
2) If I switch between languages same outcome: error, XY doesn't crash anymore, and the new language is applied.
3) After save and close of Translation Tool, the same error pops up, XY doesn't crash and the changes are retained.

So, the good news is: no more error warnings (short version) and no more crashes!! I can't even imagine how hard it is to track down a problem you can't even see on your side. I am really sorry for taking your time... but happy you find all this fascinating

Thank you Don!
With 14.40.0314 happens exactly the same as yesterday: no crash and the same error message for all three the situations I tried. Here it is:

Wonderful, thanks! One more step (next beta) and we should have nailed it....

BTW, no need for screenshots, there is a "Copy" (Copia ;) ) button in that dialog... :)

Just to make sure: Nobody here got this error, only Flora_RMC, right? (Only reply of that is wrong.)This is so crazy... but Flora's next post will solve the miracle. I'm very curious...

I'm really sorry for all your trouble - it seems there is no one else with this kind of error... but you know, I always say my Win7 is in need of an exorcism, and you are exorcising the demons alright

So, here is the error (no pretty images this time  ):

Code: Select all

Thanks. I know now exactly where and when it happens, but it remains a mystery why it happens. The error "Control array element '13' doesn't exist" is simple untrue: This elements DOES exist.

Are you maybe using some 3rd party Windows Theme?

Whatever, I added a "Fix Flora" ;) so the error should not come again in future.

OMG, it worked! No error, no crash - nothing wrong anymore :appl: :appl:
Unbelievable! A tailor-made fix - what an honor!

About the theme, I never changed what came with the laptop... but come to think of it, it's by Samsung so has to be a 3rd party Windows Theme, right?
With the old beta (.0316) still on, I just tried Aero default theme (the one with the Windows logo centered on the desktop) but the error is the same as yesterday... Mystery.
Well, no matter: I'm back to the old Samsung theme and your shining new beta with the problem fixed. Thank you again, Don!

Good. :D Would have been better to understand it, though... BTW, it's this command that is reported not to exist: View | Sort By | Comment (No, Drives mode is not the problem; here the command exists but is hidden).

How strange. I am in List mode all the time (sorted by name), so there is nothing sorted by Comment... besides, as you say, the command exists anyway...
Ah, the mysteries of technology!
Thanks Don, you're the best bug killer ever! :appl: :appl:
