XYplorer comes in two editions, the Professional Edition and the Home Edition. The differences are explained on this page. Note that the trial version lets you test all features of both editions. By default it comes in Professional Edition mode. See below for how to evaluate the Home Edition.

What's the Catch? Well, the Home Edition is feature-reduced. It has everything the current Pro Edition has, apart from the following advanced features:

Screenshot. In the following screenshot of the Home Edition you will note that menus User, Scripting, and Tabsets are unavailable.
Evaluating the Home Edition. The unregistered trial version can emulate the Home Edition (goto menu Tools | Configuration | Features) so that you can really try out what you're going to get with the Home Edition.
Upgrading to Pro. There is no upgrade path from Home to Pro Edition. If you later decide you need the Pro Edition you will have to buy it at the full price.
The Future of the Home Edition. The Home Edition will get regular upgrades along with the Pro Edition. So, if Pro goes 8.70, Home will go 8.70 as well. You will get all of the bug fixes, and most of the new features.
